POLL SHOWS NFL POPULARITY DECLINING In TEXAS!!!

According to a recent poll by the University of Texas/ Texas Tribune Newspaper, nearly half of the registered voters from the state TEXAS currently hold an unfavorable opinion of the NFL!!!

TEXAS TRIBUNE - UNIVERSITY Of TEXAS report the combination of the NFL National Anthem Protests incurring the wrath of President Donald Trump and the medical evidence demonstrating that repeated concussions can cause long-term brain damage have seemingly made NFL Football less popular than High School and/or College Football.

UNIVERSITY Of TEXAS - AUSTIN Government Professor DARRON SHAW is director of the poll.

Dr. DARRON SHAW stated;
“Trump made this an issue. He understood that making this about the national anthem was good politically. It’s very clear it has hurt the NFL, and that it’s polarized politically and polarized racially.”

Overall, 47 percent of voters said they have an unfavorable opinion of the NFL — including 28 percent who said they have a very unfavorable opinion — while 27 percent said they have a favorable impression of the league.

Black voters had the most positive opinions of the NFL — 49 percent favorable and 24 percent unfavorable. Among Hispanic voters, 29 percent were positive and 39 percent were negative. White voters were the least impressed of all: 20 percent have a favorable impression of the league, while 55 percent have a negative impression.

UTA TEXAS POLITICS PROJECT Director JIM HENSON said;

“If football was trumping controversy, these numbers would be much more positive than they are. And they would not show the demographic patterns that are clearly evident here.”

JUSTIFY WINS 2018 TRIPLE CROWN On SPORTS ILLUSTRATED MAG!!!

Saturday, June 9, 3-year-old American Thoroughbred colt JUSTIFY conquered the BELMONT STAKES  to win the 2018 TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The BELMONT STAKES is the third and final crown jewel in the TRIPLE CROWN. The other two are the KENTUCKY DERBY and the PREAKNESS STAKES, which won on Saturday, May 5, and Saturday, May 19.

JUSTIFY winning the 2018 TRIPLE CRWON capped an unprecedented three days in AMERICAN SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS during which time the WASHINGTON CAP\ITALS won the 2018 STANLEY CUP  CHAMPIONSHIP on Thursday, June 7;, the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS won the 2018 NBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP on Friday, June 8, and; then Justify winning the 2018 Triple Crown Championship on Saturday, June 9.

Justify becomes only the 13th horse in AMERICAN HORSE RACING HISTORY to win the Triple Crown. The most recent was AMERICAN PHARAOH in 2015.

For winning the Triple Crown and so many other reasons, Justify is the cover story for SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Magazine.

BET MINISERIES TRAILER - The BOBBY BROWN STORY!!!

BET has finally released the official trailer for the hugely-anticipated biopic project The BOBBY BROWN STORY!!!

The BOBBY BROWN STORY is the follow-up to the uber-successful BET three-part series, The NEW EDITION STORY.

SHADOW And ACT reports;

The upcoming two-part miniseries sees Woody McClain reprising his role as Bobby Brown. Joining him will be Rosewood and future Luke Cage star Gabrielle Dennis as Whitney Houston, as well as Mekhi Phifer, Lil Rel Howery, T.K. Carter, Laz Alonso, Lance Gross and Alyssa Goss. Sandi McCree and Tyler Marcel Williams will reprise their roles as Brown's mother and the younger version of Brown, and at least one New Edition member will appear with Algee Smith (who portrays Ralph Tresvant) confirmed to make an appearance. 

The director is Spike Lee protege, New York University graduate Kiel Adrian Scott. 

The Bobby Brown Story will pick up where the New Edition mini left off. It will chronicle the talented but troubled singer’s exit from the popular ’80s boy band through his solo success, his affair with Janet Jackson and tabloid-fodder marriage to pop icon Whitney Houston. Spanning 30 years of Brown’s life, the new project follows his story from the hard streets of Roxbury, where he turned to a life of drug dealing before being given the chance to prove himself as a solo artist.

GRAMMY AWARDS COMMITTEE EXPANDS NOMINEES In FOUR MAJOR CATEGORIES!!!

Since the first Grammy Awards in1959, five artists have competed for the prestigious categories of Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and, Best New Artist!!!

That will immediately change with the expansion from five to eight nominees in those categories beginning at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019.

BILLBOARD Magazine  reports Recording Academy CEO/ President NEIL PORTNOW explained;

"Throughout the year, we team up with music people across all genres and disciplines to consider revisions and subsequently make amendments to our rules and entry guidelines to ensure we're keeping up with our ever-changing industry and meeting the needs of music creators. This creates more opportunities for a wider-range of recognition in these important categories and gives more flexibility to our voters when having to make the often challenging decisions about representing excellence and the best in music for the year. We look forward to celebrating all of our nominees when they are announced later this year."

This decision by the Recording Academy echoes an expansion undertaken by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in 2009 when it doubled the number of best picture nominees from five to up to 10. The thinking behind that change was to possibly allow more blockbusters to be nominated in the top category and potentially broaden the Oscars' audience. It is unclear how the Recording Academy's decision will affect the February telecast in terms of performances, although in the past, the Grammys usually have tried to highlight all the nominees in the album of the year category in some way. 

The 2019 GRAMMY AWARDS returns to Hollywood and will take place at the the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
