I LOVE 2 EAT #169 - SASSAFRAS RESTAURANT!!!


While parlaying in the CRESCENT CITY, of course Yours Truly CCG had to spend some quality time with Grandmother!!!

Mau-Mau had been needing to take care of some errands, but; because it rained/stormed every day, we were finally able to handle some business on Friday, August 11.

Bank, Beauty Parlor, Supermarket... in that order, was the itinerary

But; lunchtime, tho...

SASSAFRAS is a family-owned eatery specializing in New Orleans Creole Cuisine, and; is conveniently located at the far left corner of the ROUSES SUPERMARKET PLAZA at the corner of LEON C. SIMON DR. and FRANKLIN AVE. in Downtown 7th Ward Gentilly-Lakefront New Orleans.

Driving east, they are about one-quarter of a mile down L.C. SIMON from the UNIVERSITY Of NEW ORLEANS, and west; about one-quarter mile up L.C. Simon Dr. from SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY At NEW ORLEANS.

CCG and Mau-Mau arrived at about 2:00 pm to a house that was at about one-half seating capacity, so, we were immediately able to be seated, and, have out drink orders taken.

The SASSAFRAS RESTAURANT MENU is a delightfully-crafted buffet of traditional New Orleans Creole Cuisine complemented by contemporary companions. They are heavy on the seafood, however; they also offer their own signature salads, burgers, steaks, and chops.

Mau-Mau was TREATING!!!

Because she was treating, and, because she told Ya Boy to have whatever he wanted; CCG took it easy.

The ST. ROCH SEAFOOD PASTA (photo below) was to be the lunchtime entree for the day. The small HOUSE SALAD (photo above) accompanies this particular entree.

The salad was fresh, cool, and; crisp. All of the vegetable elements appeared bright, full of color, and; fresh to the taste.

The St. Roch Seafood Pasta is generous helpings of Sautéed Crawfish and Shrimp, tossed in a rich and creamy alfredo-colored creole sauce that is seasoned with garlic, onion, , green onion,  layered upon a hearty bed of  just-right pasta, and; topped with green onion and parmesan cheese.

This particular menu offering was reasonably representative of the overall menu characteristics, i.e., New Orleans Cuisine, Creole Cuisine, and; Contemporary Seafood Cuisine.

SWEET!!!

GOOD FOOD, GOOD CONVERSATION, GOOD LOCATION, GOOD SERVICE, GOOD TIMES!!!
