A FILIPINA FAMILY SLAVE Serving a FILIPINO FAMILY In AMERICA On THE ATLANTIC MAG!!!

Her name was EUDOCIA TOMAS PULIDO, but; the family for whom she served for 56 years called her LOLA.

MANILLA, PHILIPPINES native PULITZER PRIZE Winner ALEX TIZON recounts how his grandfather ARMY Lieutenant TOMAS LIEUTENANT TOM gave LOLA to his mother as a gift when she was 18 years old.

When the family immigrated to the United Staes, she came with them.

LOLA was NEVER paid, often suffered severe emotional and physical abuse, and; slept in a corner on the floor.

EUOCIA TOMAS PULIDO was a SLAVE.

In 20111, she passed away at age 85, and; subsequently the author in March 2017 at age 65.

MY FAMILY'S SLAVE  is a posthumous printing of an article that he wrote chronicling his  journey to return her ashes to her hometown in the Phillippines.
