MICHAEL K WILLIAMS Asks, 'AM I BEING TYPECAST?' For The ATLANTIC MAG!!!

Image result for michael k. williams am i being typecast

In the video below, Actor MICHAEL K. WILLIAMS  headlines the new QUESTION YOUR ANSWERS campaign from The ATLANTIC Magazine!!!

His scene has him to portray different versions of himself, interrogating himself about whether, as a black actor, he's being typecast, touching on topical issues (race relations, the USA's political climate and more) in nuanced and poignant ways!!!

SHADOW And ACT  reports that QUESTION YOUR ANSWERS is created by Wieden & Kennedy New York and directed by David Shane of O Positive. The 2 1/2-minute short is The Atlantic's first brand campaign in a decade, according to the good folks at Advertising Age magazine, and is being used to promote The Atlantic's 160th anniversary this year.

WIEDEN & KENNEDY Creative Director JACLYN CRAWLY said to ADVERTISING AGE;

"The Atlantic doesn't like to pound their chest and claim they know everything. They really respect process and debate. Sometimes the best way to show something is through examples, so we presented the idea of having notable personalities confronting something they might have been surprised they struggled with."

The agency considered several names and eventually selected Michael K. Williams as their star.

JACLYN CRAWLY continued;

"If you think about actors with vulnerability, who really made you feel something, he was at the top of the list by far. He might play a tough gangster, but if you read about him and do research, you see he's actually been fighting that his whole life. The writer on the campaign, Brock Kirby, is a big fan of him and knew this about him going in. We thought there was real tension there and something we could jump off of.".

Film Director DAVID SHANE said;

"It was very important to Michael to name these 'sides' of him, and we spent a fair amount of time doing that... Michael 2 became 'The Philosopher," Michael 3 was, obviously, 'The Gangsta,' the one that nursed the most angry resentment, and Michael 4 was 'smart-ass Michael,' who stood at the margins of the scene, sniping. In between some takes, Michael played music through his headphones and it occurred to me - probably later than it should - that he was playing tracks for different characters."

The Atlantic published the piece this morning with the hashtag #QuestionAnswers and the following: "At The Atlantic, we believe it’s never been more important to take on established answers with tough questions.

Here, Michael K. Williams, of 'The Wire' and 'The Night Of,' wrestles with one of his own: Is he being typecast?"

The BUSH WARS - To PUBE Or NOT To PUBE???

Image result for the pubic bush wars

The really good people at COSMOPOLITAN Magazine recently surveyed a group of men AND women for their thoughts on pubic hair on Women AND Men!!!
According to 4,150 respondents ages 18 to 35, only 6% of men are attracted to a woman who sports a full bush.
Most men—30%—prefer a woman who trims, followed closely by the gal who shaves it all off (26 percent).
Placing fourth are the 12% of women who opt for the landing strip..
So, au natural is the least desired pube style.
Only 6%  of women report letting their pubic hair grow wild, compared to the 57% of women who wax off their vaginal forests. One in four females choose to trim, and seven percent keep things clean with a landing strip.
As for men, an overwhelming majority maintain their pubes by trimming, with “bare” coming in a distant second. 10% of guys don’t trim their pubes at all and, get this, two percent commit to a landing strip.
Hunh??? WHAT???
70%of women prefer a man to be trimmed, followed by the 12% who like him bare.
The survey found men prefer women with little or no pubic hair because it’s easier on the eye.
JASON, 29, is a very brave young fellow who said;
“If you can feel it under her underwear or it’s sticking out of a small pair of underwear, that’s just not attractive to me. If a girl had a full bush and didn’t want to shave, that wouldn’t be a deal breaker, but I also probably wouldn’t go down on her very often.”
In follow-up interviews, a number of respondents reported that they’d grown tired of curly pubes getting stuck in their teeth during oral sex.
REECE said;
“My first girlfriend didn’t want to go down on me with hair there, and I thought that was completely reasonable. I think for both men and women, it’s nice to not get scratched up by all that hair.”
The survey reveals that our proclivity to ask a partner to alter their pubic hair isn’t as rare as you’d think.
40% of men and 23% of women confess to making such a request.
Even worse, 30% of men and 19% of women would reconsider dating someone whose public hair doesn’t reflect their own preference. Men proved unanimously more judgemental regarding the appearance of the opposite sex’s pubic condition.
Maybe that’s why 22% of women groom their pubic hair “multiple times per week,” compared to only 8% of men. Most women shave on a weekly basis (37 percent) while the majority of men do the chore every month.

While these results could easily blame men for pressuring women to maintain a particular standard, half of people admitted they shave because it makes them feel more attractive.

MANSCAPING is also said to make a man’s member appear larger—even if it may increase the risk of catching an STI. The survey also revealed a discrepancy in the amount of hair that older and younger women choose to remove. Cosmo suggests this divide may reflect women’s increasing comfort with a lower-maintenance grooming style as they grow older or enter long-term relationships.
BOTTOM LINE On PUBIC GROOMING: MAKE LOVE Not WAR!!!
It is and should be regarded as a personal choice. A person can have their preference, sure, but neither Man OR Woman should force this predilection on their Woman OR Man.
HOWEVER; I just hope we can all agree that a MAN with a landing strip is the WORST. IDEA. EVER!!!

BARACK OBAMA First POST-PRESIDENTIAL SPEECH With Q&A At UNIVERSITY Of CHICAGO!!!

 photo osp1.jpg

Monday, April 24, 2017, in CHICAGO, former President BARACK OBAMA returned to his adopted hometown of The WINDY CITY to make his official first speech since leaving the WHITE HOUSE!!!

Courtesy of the really good people at ELLE Magazine, here is the FULL TEXT of his speech:

"Thank you. Hey! Thank you. Everybody have a seat. Have a seat. So what's been going on while I've been gone?
It is wonderful to be home. It is wonderful to be at the University of Chicago. It is wonderful to be on the south side of Chicago. And it is wonderful to be with these young people here. And what I want to do is just maybe speak very briefly at the top about why we're here and then I want to spend most of the time that we're together hearing from these remarkable young people who are I think representative of some amazing young people who are in the audience as well.
I was telling these guys that it was a little over 30 years ago that I came to Chicago. I was 25 years old. I had gotten out of college filled with idealism and absolutely certain that somehow I was going to change the world. But I had no idea how or where or what I was going to be doing. And so I worked first to pay off some student loans. And then I went to work at the City Colleges of New York on their Harlem campus with some student organizing.
And then there were a group of churches out on the south side who had come together to try to deal with the steel plants that had closed in the area and the economic devastation that had been taking place, but also the racial tensions and turnover that was happening. They formed an organization and hired me as a community organizer. I did not really know what that meant or how to do it. But I accepted the job.
And for the next three years I lived right here in Hyde Park but I worked in communities like Roseland and Pullman. Working class neighborhoods. Many of which had changed rapidly from white to black in the late '60s, '70s. And full of wonderful people who were proud of their communities, proud of the steps they had taken to try to move into the middle class, but were also worried about their futures, because in some cases their kids weren't doing as well as they had. In some cases these communities have been badly neglected for a very long time. The distribution of city services were unequal. Schools were underfunded. There was a lack of opportunity. And for three years I tried to do something about it. And I am the first to acknowledge that I did not set the world on fire. Nor did I transform these communities in any significant way, although we did some good things. But it did change me.
This community gave me a lot more than I was able to give in return, because this community taught me that ordinary people, when working together, can do extraordinary things. This community taught me that everybody has a story to tell. That is important. This experience taught me that beneath the surface differences of people that there were common hopes and common dreams and common aspirations. Common values. That stitched us together as Americans. And so even though I, after three years, left for law school, the lessons that had been taught to me here as an organizer are ones that stayed with me. And effectively gave me the foundation for my subsequent political career and the themes that I would talk about as a state legislator and as a U.S. Senator and ultimately as president of the United States.
Now, I tell you that history because on the back end now of my presidency, now that it's completed, I'm spending a lot of time thinking about what is the most important thing I can do for my next job? And what I'm convinced of is that although there are all kinds of issues that I care about and all kinds of issues that I intend to work on, the single most important thing I can do is to help in any way I can prepare the next generation of leadership to take up the baton and to take their own crack at changing the world. Because the one thing that I'm absolutely convinced of is that yes, we confront a whole range of challenges from economic inequality and lack of opportunity to a criminal justice system that too often is skewed in ways that are unproductive to climate change to, you know, issues related to violence. All those problems are serious. They're daunting. But they're not insolvable.
What is preventing us from tackling them and making more progress really has to do with our politics and our civic life. It has to do with the fact that because of things like political gerrymandering our parties have moved further and further apart and it's harder and harder to find common ground. Because of money and politics.
Special interests dominate the debates in Washington in ways that don't match up with what the broad majority of Americans feel. Because of changes in the media, we now have a situation in which everybody's listening to people who already agree with them and are further and further reinforcing their own realities to the neglect of a common reality that allows us to have a healthy debate and then try to find common ground and actually move solutions forward.
And so when I said in 2004 that red states or blue states, they're the United States of America, that was aspirational comment, but I think it's―and it's one that I still believe, that when you talk to individuals one-on-one, people, there's a lot more people that have in common than divides them. But honestly it's not true when it comes to our politics and civic life.
Maybe more pernicious is people are not involved and they give up. As a consequence, we have some of the lowest voting rates of any democracy and low participation rates than translate into a further gap between who's governing us and what we believe.
The only folks who are going to be able to solve that problem are going to be young people, the next generation. And I have been encouraged everywhere I go in the United States, but also everywhere around the world to see how sharp and astute and tolerant and thoughtful and entrepreneurial our young people are. A lot more sophisticated than I was at their age. And so the question then becomes what are the ways in which we can create pathways for them to take leadership, for them to get involved? Are there ways in which we can knock down some of the barriers that are discouraging young people about a life of service? And if there are, I want to work with them to knock down those barriers. And to get this next generation and to accelerate their move towards leadership. Because if that happens, I think we're going to be just fine."

#BLACKGIRLMAGIC #BLACKGIRLSROCK - LOGAN BROWNING Of DEAR WHITE PEOPLE On ROLLING OUT MAG!!!

lbro4

Actress LOGAN BROWNING portrays lead character SAMANTHA WHITE in upcoming NETFLIX series DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, and she covers the new issue of ROLLING OUT Magazine!!!

Here are some interview interludes:

On being thankful for sacrifices made by family members that helped to contribute to her success:

“I think it’s important for people to share that, and not pretend they got some place on their own. My parents, my siblings, and my relatives have made more sacrifices for me than I have for myself, if I’m being honest.”

On pursuing acting classes and theater training:

“We have so many resources at our fingertips now. There’s almost no excuse for character development being weak. I love talking to creators of shows. I always kind of look to them because it is their vision and their voice.”

On being a role model and seeking responsible acting roles:

“I feel like maybe that wasn’t in my mind before, but now I feel like I’m super conscious of what I say yes and no to. Even though you want to believe that anything can be art, you also have to think about how it’s all media. … Art inspires how we look at each other, and I don’t want to be a contributing factor to negative images or stereotypes …
“You have someone like Naomi Harris in Moonlight, who at first wasn’t sure she wanted to play this drug addicted mother because she felt it was stereotypical until Barry Jenkins explained, ‘You are playing my mom.’ There is a human, she exists, someone loved her, and her story needs to be told. That’s different to me. It’s not just some cookie-cutter role for people to feel sorry for Black people. It’s a beautiful person’s story being shared — so that, I can rock with.”
On growing up in CLAYTON COUNTY, GA:
“It’s funny I always said Atlanta, but really I didn’t grow up in Atlanta. I grew up on the southside. My mom and most of my friends still live there, and I go back a lot, I now feel even more responsible and conscious about saying I grew up in Clayton County because in Atlanta sometimes Clayton County doesn’t have the best reputation for whatever reason. … So many artists have come from that Clayton County and Fayette County area and we all just say Atlanta. With all the industry going to Atlanta, it’s nice to say, ‘Actually, I’m from this specific part that’s been overlooked.’ ”
On being able to identify ordinary women doing extraordinary things as among her heroes:
“I wish we all glorified more women who are just doing kickass things in their regular lives as the heroes,” said Browning. “I want to do more of this, personally, as I have so many friends who are doing amazing things but I’m the one, because I’m on a TV show, who is getting the publicity. I look at them as my heroes.”

BRALESS THURSDAY: 15 REASONS Why YOUR BREASTS May BE HURTING!!!

Reasons why breast Hurts
GOOD THIRSTY THURSDAY MORNING  to ALL of My CCG Family, Friends, Frats, Fans, Followers, Frenemies, and FANTABULICIOUSTICAL Funky Fresh Fly Folks of ALL Colors, Shapes, Sizes, Flavors, Persuasions, and Denominations!!!

LADIES:

Are YOU currently wearing a properly-fitting bra?

When was the last time that YOU attended a PROFESSIONAL BRA-FITTING?

At any time during the past 24 hours, have you taken time from your day to take off your bra?

Do YOU ever take time during your day to take off your bra?

Do YOU wear your bra 24/7/365?

When you are in the comfort and privacy of your own home, are you able to take off your bra?

Are you able to take off your bra when you go to sleep?

Do YOU have full-length  mirror at home, and if so: when in the comfort and privacy of your own home, are YOU comfortable enough with yourself to completely disrobe and fully examine your own naked body?

Are YOU familiar with your FAMILY MEDICAL HISTORY?

Is there a history of BREAST CANCER, or; any other types of cancer in your family?

When was the last time that YOU had a MAMMOGRAM?

Do YOU practice BREAST SELF-EXAMINATION?

Do YOU practice BREAST MASSAGE?

As of late, have you been experiencing unexplainable BREAST PAIN/SORENESS/TENDERNESS???

If the answer to the last question is YES, here are some possible reasons that you may have been experiencing such discomfort.

According to WOMEN'S HEALTH MAGAZINE:

 1. PMS:

The most common cause of breast pain is a change in hormones that comes along with your period. This normal body response to shifts in estrogen typically manifests in swelling and tenderness on the day before your period begins and the first day of your flow, says Taraneh Shirazian, M.D., assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. This type of boob soreness is called cyclic pain, since it's related to your menstrual cycle. The good news: It should go away when your period ends. Birth control pills can help, says Shirazian, since they prevent ovulation and keep estrogen levels stable. And if you'd rather the skip the OTC pain reliever, primrose oil supplements may also ease soreness, she says.

2. GOING HARD At The GYM:
Maybe you did an impressive round of pushups or dove into a serious new weight-lifting routine. This may seem like breast pain, but the discomfort actually stems from the muscles underneath the breasts. "There are the pectoral muscles there," explains Shirazian, and this set of muscles lying right under the breast tissue tightening and relaxing is actually the source of this tenderness. Get relief by applying heating padsand taking a pain reliever as directed, suggests Shirazian.
3. PULLED MUSCLE (NOT gym-related):
So maybe you haven't been hitting the gym harder, but were your lifting furniture or heavy bags that may have strained those pectoral muscles? If so, that soreness might actually be coming from the muscles underneath your breast tissue again, says Shirazian. You can treat it the same way you would above, with heat or OTC pain relievers.
4. LUMPY BREASTS:
If you've been identified as a women with lumpy breast tissue (technically known as fibrocystic breast tissue), then you are probably well acquainted with breast tenderness linked to your menstrual cycle. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, this bumpy, uneven breast tissue is actually characterized by fluid-filled cysts, and it's not necessarily linked to breast cancer. However, they may be more sensitive to hormonal changes.
5. caffeine, Caffeine, CAFFEINE!!!
While coffee and tea may not directly cause breast pain, some studieshave shown that cutting out caffeine can help alleviate discomfort, especially for women with fibrocycstic breast tissue. If your breasts feel particularly lumpy and you've got a three-cup-a-day habit, ask your doctor if you should consider cutting down.
According to READER'S DIGEST:
6. PREGNANCY:
Sore, tender, swollen breasts are often the very first sign of pregnancy, Dr. Ramos says. Congratulations! Blame your hormones: In the early stages of pregnancy your breasts grow faster than your baby. As your estrogen levels increase, they increase the size of your milk ducts, which in turn can increase breast pain and sensitivity, she explains.
7. bad bra, Bad Bra, BAD BRA!!!
Sixty-four percent of us are wearing the wrong size bra, according to a recent survey of over 10,000 women done by Women's Wear Daily. And this can cause problems worse than a lumpy silhouette. Poorly fitted bras, abrasive fabrics, and stabby underwire are all common causes of breast pain, Dr. Ramos says. Instead of enduring 12 or more hours a day in a boob-strangling nightmare, she says it's worth it to pay a little extra to get something that fits and is comfortable. These are common bra mistakes you might not realize you're making.
8. INFECTION:
Blocked milk ducts, ingrown hairs (yes nipple hair is totally normal), clogged sweat glands, and a bacterial illness can all cause localized infections in your breast, Dr. Ramos says. Infections are characterized by redness, swelling, and pain and may also cause your nipple to leak pus, blood, or green, red, or brown discharge. You may also have a fever and malaise. If you think you have an infection you need to see a doctor immediately to help determine the cause and the appropriate treatment.
9. BIRTH CONTROL:
"Any medication that changes your hormones has the potential to cause breast pain as a side effect," Dr. Ramos says. The most common culprit are birth control pills as they increase estrogen levels, but fertility treatments, hormone replacement therapies, and thyroid medications can also cause sensitivity, swelling, tenderness and pain in your breasts. Often this side effect diminishes over time but if it doesn't it's worth talking to your doctor about alternative medications. These are signs you might be on the wrong birth control.
10. BREASTFEEDING:
Your breasts are good for lots of things—sexy times, filling out a sweater, carrying a spare lipstick—but they really have one actual job: feeding a baby. And boy do they do that job well! During pregnancy, your breasts and milk ducts enlarge to prepare for being the sole source of sustenance for a whole human being. All this growing means a lot of pain, and that continues even more after your baby is born and actively suckling. A lactation consultant can be a lifesaver to a new mom with two incredibly tired tats.

According to BUSTLE:
11. PERIMENOPAUSE/ MENOPAUSE:
Just as predictable, monthly breast pain signals that the inner workings of your reproductive cycle are proceeding as scheduled, unpredictable breast pain can be a sign that your reproductive organs are closing up shop. Random breast pain is a common sign of perimenopause (the stage before true menopause sets in), a phase that most women enter into between the ages of 45 and 55. But don't freak out that you're somehow going into early menopause if your boobs seem to suddenly be aching at all different points of the month— premature menopause is rare, and the odds that you have it, especially absent any of the other symptoms (like not getting your period) or common causes (like ovary removal), are very, very low.

According to MEDICAL NEWS TODAY:

12. MEDICATIONS:

Certain medications can contribute to the development of breast pain. Medications that are linked to an increase in breast pain include the following:

  • Infertility treatments

According to ACTIVEBEAT:
13. LACK Of PROPER SUPPORT:
Gynecologists at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York, point to two rather large sources of breast pain—your girls are lacking adequate support! If you have large, heavy breasts, wearing a properly fitted bra will reduce breast bouncing and movement.
Basically, gravity is not your friend—meaning walking, standing, running, and climbing stairs without proper support will inevitably lead to breast and back pain. So go for a professional bra fitting and spend the money on an appropriately fitted bra that reduces bounce while showing proper support for your sisters.
14. DEVELOPMENT Of CYSTS:

Just as women with lumpy breast tissue (or fibrocystic breast tissue) are prone to bouts of breast soreness and tenderness tied to their menstrual cycles—they are also prone to developing cysts!
Research from the National Breast Cancer Foundation claims that women with fibrocystic breast tissue (lumpy, heavy, and/or uneven breast tissue) risk a higher incidence of developing fluid-filled cysts. Not to worry, a cyst isn’t always indicative of breast cancer. That being said; your doctor should examine any lumps or changes in breast tissue immediately.

According to TTAC:
15. DEVELOPMENT Of BREAST CANCER:
Many women assume that only an isolated lump with localized pain suggests the presence of breast cancer. The truth is that breast cancer can manifest as “scattered, seed-like” tumors that, in some cases, spread like small tentacles throughout breast tissue.
Experts from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston warn that breast cancer often shows up without the classic breast cancer warning signs of lumps or redness. Signs/symptoms such as swelling and irritation, dimpling, nipple discharge beyond normal lactation, nipple inversion, and/or a thickening and reddening of skin around the nipple are all potential early breast cancer signs you need to pay attention to.
MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER In HOUSTON Chief of Translational Breast Cancer Research Dr. NAOTO UENO says;
“There are breast cancers that present as half a lump or there may be no lump at all. It could just be a strange-looking skin appearance or skin being red or dimpled.”

early-Breast-Cancer-signsLADIES;

As ALWAYS, do NOT attempt to self-diagnose yourselves.

Should YOU notice any abnormalities with your breasts, PLEASE call your physician to schedule an appointment to discuss/examine your issue.
