The NBA has finally announced its 2017 ALL-STAR GAME starters, and as expected, there are some usual suspects sprinkled into some new names that will take the court on Sunday, February 19 in NEW ORLEANS!!!
SB NATION reports in the East, sustained dominance has netted Cleveland Cavaliers’ forward LeBron James his 13th consecutive All-Star start after leading the conference in fan votes. But after The King, the East’s lineup is full of fresh faces. Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo will get his first of many nods as an All-Star starter in February. Chicago’s Jimmy Butler is also getting his first start, as well as Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan and Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving.
In the West, it came down to three guards and two spots. Stephen Curry and James Harden will lead the way for the West backcourt, which leaves Russell Westbrook as a reserve. Westbrook is currently averaging a triple double for the season and is an MVP candidate at this point. The two will play alongside Kevin Durant, New Orleans’ Anthony Davis, and San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard.
