Ya Boy CCG has been without a car for about the past two months.
About two months ago, right after the car went down, Sis picked up CCG from a doctor's appointment at GRADY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, so; it was off we went to pick up Niecey from school.
Because we were in the area of the school well in advance of the pick-up time, there was time to stop for a late lunch.
GOLDBERG'S BAGEL COMPANY & DELI
1272 WEST PACES FERRY ROAD, NE
ATLANTA, GA 30327
MONDAY - SATURDAY: 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
SUNDAY: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Founded in ATLANTA in1972, GOLDBERG'S BAGEL COMPANY & DELI (GOLDBERG'S) was originally named GOLDBERG & SON, and; was a true father-and-son NEW YORK CITY-style delicatessen.
The late 1990's brought about a change in ownership, and, the name was changed. GOLDBERG'S now has six locations through the Metro ATLANTA area and have greatly expanded their menu offerings, yet; bagels remain the heart of the operation.
We arrived at about 2:30 pm to a house that was at about one-half seating capacity, and had a consistent stream of patrons arriving to pick up their To-Go orders.
We were immediately seated by our server and had our beverage orders taken.
Over the years, GOLDBERG'S MENU has changed, yet; it's tradition has not. They STILL specialize in comforting authentic New York City delicatessen-stylye JEWISH CUISINE.
CCG had the WHITEFISH & EGG SALAD PLATTER (photo below); which contained 1 scoop of Whitefish Salad, 1 scoop of Egg Salad, 1 EVERYTHING BAGEL, 1 Kosher pickle, 1 bag of Lay's chips, and side veggies that could placed on a bagel sandwich, or; a side salad. CCG made a salad and drank Arnold Palmer (Sweet Tea x Lemonade).
Both salads were well chopped and ground to the point of being chewy-creamy, meaning; well-ground, but; not slide-down-your-throat soft. There was just enough solid matter to provide a little chewing action.
In the Kosher tradition, the WHITEFISH is smoked, and for the unaccustomed or those with sensitive salt palates, the flavor might be a bit strong. CCG is not that sensitive. The whitefish salad was TASTY, and; CCG does LOVE him some EGG SALAD.
The Everything Bagel is just as the name describes... it is EVERYTHING. It was nice and warm, with lots of seeds, grains, and just a dash of salt (Kosher Salt, for sure).
The Kosher Pickle and all of the side veggies were fresh, crisp, cool, and; you will never go wrong with a bag of Lay's Potato Chips.
GOOD FOOD, GOOD LOCATION, GOOD CONVERSATION, GOOD SERVICE, GOOD TIMES!!!
