I LOVE 2 EAT #123: TIGER'S CREOLE CUISINE!!!



While STILL visiting home folks in The CRESCENT CITY, on Friday, August 5, Yours Truly CCG decided to try another New Orleans-family-owned-and-operated restaurant located relatively close to Dad's house!!!

TIGER'S CREOLE CUISINE is conveniently located in the 1600 block of Basin Street, which is one block past the intersection of Basin Street and N. Claiborne Avenue, and; directly next door and to the right of the PRINCE HALL MASONIC TEMPLE, The sign hangs out and over the front door area, so; you will not miss the the sign. However, the front door sits back from the sidewalk, so; you might miss the front door; just like CCG.

TIGER'S is owned and operated by Mr. RENE TIGER WATSON, and has been at that location for the past 11 years. TIGER opened his place right before the onslaught of HURRICANE KATRINA, but; he fought back, and gradually returned to normal operations.

The Dining Room appears to have comfortably spacious table seating for about 35 - 40 patrons, and; upon arrival, each table was covered with a crispy clean white table linen.

Ya Boy arrived at about 4:00 PM to a house that was not very busy with seated patrons, but; Tiger's appears to have a very brisk Carry-Out patronage. From CCG's arrival to departure, the Carry-Out customers kept on coming.

TIGER'S CREOLE CUISINE MENU is a mouth-watering listing of good old-fashioned Creole/Cajun/Southern GOODNESS.

CCG decided to go with a small cup-size of GUMBO (photo above) as an appetizer, the CATFISH REAGAN (Photo below) as an entree, and; drank Sweet Tea.



The GUMBO starts with deep brown roux that gives you a memorable spicy kick. It is full of traditional Creole seasoning elements such as onion, celery, parsley, oregano, and shallots (green onion). It was meaty, containing well-cooked tender bits bits of beef, sausage, shrimp, and; an actual crab leg.

The CATFISH REAGAN was a tender-flaky Golden Brown fried fillet of catfish covered by a mouth-warming creole-cajun Crawfish Reagan Cream sauce, and resting atop a just-right bed of Al Dente FETTUCCINE PASTA and sliced Garlic Toast.

Catfish Reagan is accompanied by sides of a bowl of Green Peas, and a scoop of chunky-creamy (just the right balance) Potato Salad.

SWEET!!!

CCG has been hearing of TIGER'S CREOLE CUISINE for some time, but; had never seemed to make it there. It was well-worth the trip!!!

Guess what??? Best thing about the experience... CCG was served by Mr. TIGER, himself!!!

GOOD FOOD, GOOD LOCATION, GOOD SERVICE,  GOOD ACCOMMODATIONS, GOOD TIMES!!!
