Tuesday, August 2, Yours Truly CCG took a short trip home to NEW ORLEANS to check in with family and friends!!!

Wednesday, August 3, CCG took Dad out for lunch.

CAFE' DAUPHINE

5229 DAUPHINE STREET.
NEW ORLEANS, LA T0117
504.309.6391

MONDAY - THURSDAY: 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM
FRIDAY - SATURDAY: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM
SUNDAY: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Just opened in 2012, CAFE' DAUPHINE is a jewel of Downtown Lower Ninth Ward NEW ORLEANS, located at the corner of DAUPHINE and EGANIA Streets, where the front door faces the corner.

Whereas much of the clientele comes casually dressed, with its wooden decor, white table linens, and, antique-isa bar, the atmosphere actually lends itself towards a Fine Dining experience.

Arriving at about 1:30 PM CST, we initially found ourselves to be only patrons in the house. However, as we enjoyed our visit, others arrived for seating, and there was a fairly steady stream of Carry-Out customers.

CAFE' DAUPHINE is spacious, well-illuminated, well-ventilated, and has comfortable Table/Booth/Bar seating for about 50 patrons.

CAFE' DAUPHINE MENU is a mouth-watering smorgasbord steeped in traditional NEW ORLEANS CREOLE CUISINE.

CCG chose to go with GUMBO (small cup size) as an appetizer, and; CREOLE PEPPER SHRIMP as an entree with a side of Broccoli, and drank Sweet Tea.

The roux of the Gumbo was a savory dark brown, had a flavorful spicy kick, and was stocked with bits of chicken, sausage, and shrimp.  It comes with complimentary sliced French Bread.

The Creole Pepper Shrimp was a hearty portion of well-cooked/seasoned Shrimp (tails on), complemented by sliced red and green bell peppers, covering a bed of Garlic Mashed Potatoes, topped with a wedge of Lemon, and accompanied by complimentary sliced French Bread.

The individual flavors were excellent. Everything was well-cooked, with nice even textures and consistencies.

One side note would be that because each individual element is well-seasoned, everything together makes the dish on the borderline of a little bit too spicy.

BEST. FRENCH BREAD. EVER.

Overall; Ya Boy CCG DID enjoy his meal, and; WILL return to Cafe' Dauphine.

GOOD FOOD, GOOD CONVERSATION, GOOD LOCATION, GOOD SERVICE, GOOD TIMES!!!
