CALIFORNIA-based Illustrator JEN OAKS loves calendars, and she also loves PIN-UP GIRLS!!!
COSMOPOLITAN reports while in graduate school in 2009, JEN OAKS says;
she realized that she had not ever seen any "any fat pin-up art out there that I liked, so I drew what I thought was hot."This is from whence came the inspiration for JEN OAKS PIN-UP CALENDARS.
The 2016 calendar focuses on the 1970s.
She has given her illustrated ladies the tile of MINX, and she pulled inspiration from Cher, Pam Grier, Jane Fonda, and more.
She said she's gotten feedback on the illustrations ranging from "hot" to "saucy" to "DAMN." The reactions have been so positive that even "a few dudes at shows who acted like they weren't into thick girls … ended up buying two calendars."
JEN OAKS has no plans to stop empowering women of all sizes through her drawings, because "we're hot and deserve to be admired and displayed on paper products all year round. Yeah!"
