BRALESS THURSDAY - AUGUST Is BREASTFEEDING AWARENESS MONTH!!!

GOOD THURSDAY to ALL of My CRAZY COOL GROOVY Family, Friends, Frats, Fans, Followers, Frienemies, and Funky Fresh FANTABULICIOUSTICAL Folks of ALL Colors, Shapes, Sizes, Flavors, Persuasions, and Denominations!!!

LADIES;

Within the last 24 hrs. have YOU taken any time to Take Off Your Bra?

Are YOU still wearing your bra 24/7/365?

When in the comfort and privacy of your own home, are YOU able to TAKE OFF Your Bra?

When you go to sleep for the night, are YOU then able to TAKE OFF YOUR Bra?

Are YOU a BREASTFEEDING MOM, or; do you plan to be a BREASTFEEDING MOM?

Now wold probably be a good time to TAKE OFF YOUR BRA.

BREASTFEEDING has been proven to provide many health benefits to both Baby and Mother.

BREASTFEEDING BENEFITS For BABY include:

Early breastfeeding is associated with fewer nighttime feeding problems. Early skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby improves breastfeeding outcomes, increases cardio-respiratory stability and decreases infant crying. Reviews from 2007 found numerous benefits. Breastfeeding aids general health, growth and development in the infant. Infants who are not breastfed are at mildly increased risk of developing acute and chronic diseases, including lower respiratory infectionear infectionsbacteremiabacterial meningitisbotulismurinary tract infection and necrotizing enterocolitis. Breastfeeding may protect against sudden infant death syndromeinsulin-dependent diabetes mellitusCrohn's diseaseulcerative colitislymphoma, allergic diseases, digestive diseases and may enhance cognitive development

BREASTFEEDING BENEFITS For MOM include:

Breastfeeding aids maternal physical and emotional health. Breastfeeding and depression in the mother are associated. Mothers who successfully breastfeed are less likely to develop postpartum depression.

FERTILITY:

Exclusive breastfeeding usually delays the return of fertility through lactational amenorrhea, although it does not provide reliable birth control. Breastfeeding may delay the return to fertility for some women by suppressing ovulation. Mothers may not ovulate, or have regular periods, during the entire lactation period. The non-ovulating period varies by individual. This has been used as natural contraception, with greater than 98% effectiveness during the first six months after birth if specific nursing behaviors are followed.
HORMONES:
Breastfeeding releases beneficial hormones into the mother's body. Oxytocin and prolactin hormones relax the mother and increase her nurturing response. This hormone release can help to enable sleep. Breastfeeding soon after birth increases the mother's oxytocin levels, making her uterus contract more quickly and reducing bleeding. Pitocin, a synthetic hormone used to make the uterus contract during and after labour, is structurally modelled on oxytocin. Syntocinon, another synthetic oxytocic, is commonly used in Australia and the UK rather than Pitocin.
LONG-TERM
For breastfeeding women, long-term health benefits include reduced risk of breast cancerovarian cancer, and endometrial cancer.

August 6, 2011, the UNITED STATES BREASTFEEDING COMMITTEE (USBC) declared that the month of August shall now be recognized as NATIONAL BREASTFEEDING MONTH.

The proclamation states;

"Whereas, the mission of the United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) is to improve the Nation’s health by working collaboratively to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding; and
Whereas, USBC envisions breastfeeding as the norm for infant and young child feeding throughout the United States; and
Whereas, breast milk is the preferred and most appropriate source of nutrition for infants, adapting over time to meet the changing needs of the growing infant; and
Whereas breastfeeding is a proven primary prevention strategy, protecting both infants and mothers from a host of chronic and acute diseases and conditions and building a foundation for life-long health and wellness; and
Whereas the act of breastfeeding builds a strong emotional connection between the mother and infant, a bond which lasts a lifetime; and
Whereas, breastfeeding provides a safe, reliable, and renewable food source, especially critical during natural disaster and emergency situations; and
Whereas, employers that provide workplace lactation support experience an impressive return on investment, including lower health care costs, absenteeism, and turnover rates, and improved morale, job satisfaction, and productivity; and
Whereas, all major medical authorities recommend that mothers breastfeed exclusively for six months and continue breastfeeding for at least the first year of a child’s life, yet breastfeeding rates continue to fall short of the Nation’s Healthy People objectives; and
Whereas, U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin has issued The Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding, calling on health care providers, employers, insurers, policymakers, researchers, and the community at large to support mothers in reaching their personal breastfeeding goals; and
Therefore, on this 6th day of August, 2011, the United States Breastfeeding Committee does hereby proclaim August as National Breastfeeding Month, in furtherance of USBC’s role to advance breastfeeding on our Nation’s agenda through collaboration, leadership, and advocacy, so that all U.S. families will have the opportunity to breastfeed."
In 1990, the WORLD ALLIANCE For BREASTFEEDING ACTION (WABA) held the initial WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK (WCW), declaring that the week of AUGUST 1 - 7, of each year to be recognized as WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK, and that AUGUST 1, would forever be celebrated as WORLD BREASTFEEDING DAY (WBD)

In 2012, the BLACK MOTHERS BREASTFEEDING ASSOCIATION (BMBFA) celebrated the first BLACK BREASTFEEDING WEEK, which declared each year, the week of AUGUST 25 - 31, would forever be recognized as BLACK BREASTFEEDING WEEK.

BREASTFEEDING Is IMPORTANT because when YOU choose to BREASTFEED, you make an investment in your baby's future. Breastfeeding allows you to make the food that is perfect for your baby. Your milk gives your baby the healthy start that will last a lifetime.

BREASTFEEDING also:
  • Protects your baby
  • Benefits your health
  • May make your life easier
  • Benefits society
It has been wonderful to see young moms getting into the art, science, and healthy lifestyle of BREASTFEEDING.

URBAN MATRIARCH is one such young mom who created the song and video TEACH ME HOW To BREASTFEED.

LADIES;

HAPPY TAKE OFF YOUR BRA, TAKE CARE Of YOUR BREASTS, TAKE CARE Of YOUR BABIES, BREASTFEED ALL Of Your BABIES, And TAKE CARE Of YOURSELVES BRALESS THURSDAY!!!

PEACE, LOVE, And BEAUTIFUL, BOUNTIFUL, BREASTFEEDING BRALESS THURSDAY BLESSINGS;

SUMMER HAIRSTYLES On ROLLING OUT!!!

Most Black women take great pride in the upkeep of their hair. Many endure weekly visits to beauty salons, and wait patiently for hours as their hair is washed, set, dried and styled and even endure a bit of discomfort with hopes that the final product that sits atop their head looks like a crown.
Due to the delicate texture of most manes of the African diaspora, a method of protection, what many Black women call “protective styling” is also necessary. These methods often include braids, wigs, weaves, or any style that allows a woman to give her tresses a rest from combing and other styling procedures that often damages the hair. These styles are especially popular in the summer when humidity may destroy and frizz a polished hairstyle.
The really good people at ROLLING OUT are offering up a celebration of culture style and beauty with ROLLING OUT: The SUMMER HAIR SPECIAL - OUR GUIDE To The BEST BRAIDED STYLES.
