WOMAN KNOW THYSELF: STUDY SHOWS BLACK WOMEN Can Be FULLER FIGURED And HEALTHY!!!

Science is showing that when it comes to issues of weight, race matters.

BLACK DOCTOR reports a study reveals BLACK WOMEN can weigh significantly more than WHITE WOMEN and still be healthy.

By examining two standards of measurement — BODY MASS INDEX (BMI) and WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE (WC) — researchers found that while white women with a BMI of 30 or more and a WC of 36 inches or more were at greater risk for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, black women with those same numbers were considered medically healthy.
In fact, African American women’s risk factors did not increase until they reached a BMI of 33 or more and a WC of 38 inches or more.

Typically, health experts consider adults with a BMI of 25-29.9 to be overweight and those with a BMI of 30 or greater to be obese.

Dr. PETER KATZMARZYK and colleagues at the PENNINGTON BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH CENTER in BATON ROUGE, LA, authored the study, ETHNIC-SPECIFIC BODY MASS INDEX (BMI) And WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE (WC) THRESHOLDS, that only examined WHITE and BLACK WOMEN.

There was no similar racial difference between BLACK MEN and WHITE MEN.

HEALTHY BLACK WOMAN reports Dr. KATZMARZYK theorizes that the weight gap between white and black women may have to do with how body fat is distributed differently throughout the body.

WHITE WOMEN tend to have more BELLY FAT, while BLACK WOMEN have more HIP, THIGH, and BOOTY MEAT.

Having more fat in your stomach is more dangerous to your health than the thighs which could be why there is a difference between races in what is considered to be medically healthy.

His findings echo a 2009 study by Dr. SAMUEL DAGOGO-JACK of the UNIVERSITY Of TENNESSEE HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER in MEMPHIS, TN.

BY BLACKS reports BMI and WC guidelines are derived from studies of predominately WHITE/ EUROPEAN populations and do not take into account physiological differences due to ethnicity and race.

These are the numbers your doctor uses when they tell you, you need to lose 80lbs when you thought you only needed to lose 55lbs. Studies also show that the BMI of ASIANS should be set lower than the BMI of Whites due to increased diabetes risks and petite body weight.

Dr. DAGOGO-JACK asserts that a Black person with the same BMI as a White person — that is, the same gender, waist size, weight and height — will usually have lower fat and abdominal fat. He and his team at the UNIVERSITY Of TENNESSEE used more direct measurements of body fat to see if they corresponded to what BMI seemed to indicate. He found that Black people have lower body fat and concluded that muscle mass in Black people might be higher.

So fret not over not having a body like many of the women that are glorified in the media. Many of them are literally starving to maintain their "look".

Love ALL of yourself, and the skin that you are in... from your Wide Nose, Luscious Lips, Blossoming Bosom, and Heavy Hips, to your Thick Thighs and Bountiful Backside.
