Meet CAMDEN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL Math Department Chair/Teacher CYNTHIA RAMSEY!!!
WAVY-TV 10 reports CYNTHIA RAMSEY is under investigation for allegedly making racist comments in a classroom.
Parent KIMBERLY ASHCRAFT said that the incident occurred a couple of weeks ago and that her daughter and several other students were present in CYNTHIA RAMSEY's classroom when the teacher allegedly made the racist remarks.
KIMBERLY ASHCRAFT said;
“It is very disturbing."KIMBERLY ASHCRAFT continued;
"That’s when she conveyed to me that Mrs. Ramsey had indicated that if she only had 10 days to live that she would kill all black people. I was completely shocked. I asked her again, ‘are you sure that was what you heard?’ I could not have imagined a teacher saying that. I conveyed to my daughter that this is a very serious allegation and I need confirmation that this did happen. I was very disappointed to hear that she was back in the classroom so soon."
School officials began an investigation, and even the Camden County Sheriff’s Office was called in to help. The sheriff told 10 On Your Side several of the students told the same story.
CYNTHIA RAMSEY was placed on SUSPENSION WITH PAY, and after a couple days was back in the classroom.
Superintendent MELVIN HAWKINS said;
"At this point, our main concern is to investigate this incident thoroughly, and collect the facts. This is a personnel issue, and it is confidential until resolved. We are following protocol in this investigation and student and school employee investigations are confidential."
Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry said he has turned over evidence to the district attorney, who will decide if the teacher should face charges.
K. ASHCRAFT concluded;
“As a parent, I felt compelled to come forward and tell somebody, because this was not only in my opinion a direct threat to the black children in the school, but also black people in the community.”
