One morning last month, while Yours Truly, CCG was home on his extended stay in The NOLA (New Orleans, LA), Dad asked Ya Boy CCG to make a doughnut run.
The BUTTERMILK DROP BAKERY And CAFE
1781 N. DORGENOIS STREET
NEW ORLEANS, LA 70119
Conveniently located on N. Dorgenois St., directly behind Church's Chicken, and just one block from the intersection of St. Bernard Ave. and N. Broad St.; The BUTTERMILK DROP BAKERY And CAFE is owned and operated by Chef/Baker DWIGHT HENRY.
Chef/Baker DWIGHT HENRY been cooking soul-food lunches and handcrafted sweet treats for years.
NEW ORLEANS is home to DWIGHT HENRY, who grew up in the Lower Ninth Ward. In eleventh grade, he got a job working at the neighborhood bakery, RISING SUNRISE, and never stopped baking.
After two decades of working in various bakeries, he was finally able to realize his dream, and open his own establishment, HENRY'S BAKERY, which soon became a local hit.
Monday, August 29, 2005; HURRICANE KATRINA flooded the building, and he wondered whether or not to re-open, BUTT (A Big But); he never stopped baking.
When Chef Henry did re-open, the business was renamed.
It is affectionately now known simply as The BUTTERMILK DROP.
The MENU also features a full slate of Breakfast and Lunch/Brunch options.
CCG picked up one dozen of their famous BUTTERMILK DROPS (below photo) for Dad to deliver as a gift, and one dozen assorted freshly baked doughnuts (3rd photo below) for the house.
Today, people remain eager to taste a unique mix of innovation, tradition and the love that Chef/Baker DWIGHT HENRY puts into all of his concoctions.
GOOD FOOD, GOOD LOCATION, GOOD SERVICE, GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD TIMES!!!
PEACE And BLESSINGS;
