Yours Truly, CCG has returned to The ATL, butt; this has become one of his favorite spots in The NOLA (New Orleans, LA).
AVENUE BAR & RESTAURANT
1939 FRANKLIN AVENUE
NEW ORLEANS, LA 70117 504.948.4437 The first thing that you should know about the AVENUE BAR & RESTAURANT is that it truly is a neighborhood spot. They are conveniently located at the corner of Franklin Avenue and N. Johnson Street, and this 20+ year-old family-owned bar and restaurant features Daily Specials such as SOMTHERED OKRA, SUCCOTASH, MEATBALLS And SPAGHETTI, BAR-B-QUE CHICKEN, and PEPPER STEAKS. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday, and the Daily Menu includes FRIED CHICKEN, SEAFOOD, PO-BOYS, GUMBO, and YATKAMEIN. This particular evening, Ya Boy CCG had spent the afternoon at the 2013 CENTRAL CITY FESTIVAL in Uptown New Orleans, and was headed home to Gentilly 7thWard New Orleans; when he felt a rumble in the belly. The AVENUE BAR & RESTAURANT became the spot. CCG had the OYSTER/SHRIMP Half/Half PO-BOY (fully dressed) and YATKAMEIN to go (photo below). Most folk are reasonably familiar with the NEW ORLEANS PO-BOY SANDWICH. CCG simply had one-half filled with Fried Oysters, and one-half with Fried Shrimp. FULLY DRESSED means layered with Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Ketchup, and Hot Sauce. For the unfamiliar, YATKAMEIN is a delicacy that is indigenous to the city of New Orleans. It is Sliced Beef, Boiled Egg (cut-in-half), accented with Shallots (Green Onion), on top of a bed of Spaghetti Noodles. The gravy manifests itself during the cooking process. Soy Sauce is optional, so restaurants will provide you with to-go-packets. To add to the evening, it was Ms. LOUISE's Birthday!!! So as we say in the Crescent City, LAISSEZ LES BONS TEMPS ROULER (Let the good times roll)!!! GOOD FOOD, GOOD LOCATION, GOOD SERVICE, GOOD TIMES!!! PEACE And BLESSINGS; -CCG
