Documentary Film A BAND CALLED DEATH documents the lives of the members of the Detroit-based group, DEATH!!!
Influenced by music by Alice Cooper and The Who the group began practicing their own music in their room. On attempting to get radio airplay and a record deal, the group encounters problems involving the groups' guitarist, David Hackney, refusing to change the group's name.
A BAND CALLED DEATH then follows the group into their post-Death projects including the members moving to Burlington, Vermont and the group's members post-Death projects including Lambsbread and The 4th Movement.
The film also focuses on the personal lives of the group members including David Hackney's battle with alcoholism and his death in 2000 and his family member's reaction to these events. The film then follows the re-discovery of the group through record collectors leading to an eventual release of Death's album ...For the Whole World to See by the Drag City record label and the group's eventual reunion and touring with a new guitarist.
